TJ had a plan for a big Cape buffalo and when we got the call from a nearby reserve that they wanted to take off some old dagga boys we were the first ones there!
After an early start and a quick cup of coffee we were out into the thick stuff to get onto some fresh tracks with the hope we would connect with something decent.
And connect we did!!
Spotting the old boy a few hundred meters away we slowly made our way to within 45 yards. We set up and waited for the perfect opportunity, not easy when there are 40+ other buffalo roaming around, all within a few meters of us. He presented and TJ made it count with a text book heart shot and a double lung to follow up. We gave him a few minutes and when we heard the bellow we knew it was done. A truly remarkable moment and a beautiful Cape buffalo which stretched the tape over 47 inches!!
Next year TJ will be back for his hippo during June. An adventure we eagerly await!
